Prior-year returns reviewed free
Before we prepare anything, we read your last three returns. Missed deductions and mis-classified income are common, and amended returns often pay for the engagement.
Tax Preparation
Every return we file is prepared by a licensed professional, reviewed by a second set of eyes, and walked through with you before it is signed. No surprises in April, no letters in October.
Most firms meet you in February, take a folder of documents, and hand back a number. By then the tax year is closed and every decision that could have changed the outcome has already been made.
We work the other way around. Preparation is where the year ends, not where the relationship starts — which is why our preparation clients almost always pay less than they did before, without a single aggressive position on the return.
Tax preparation is the process of gathering your financial records for the year, applying federal and California law to them, and filing the returns that report your income and calculate what you owe or are owed.
For a business that means reconciling the books first, confirming that owner compensation and distributions are defensible, sweeping for credits and deductions that were missed during the year, and filing the entity return plus the owner returns as one coordinated package.
Included
Federal & California returns
Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120-S, 990 and the matching California returns — Form 568, 565, 100, 100S and 199 — all prepared in-house.
Multi-state filings
If you earn income, hold property or employ staff outside California, we handle the non-resident and apportioned state returns too.
Second-preparer review
No return leaves this office on one person's signature. A senior reviewer checks every figure, carryforward and election before filing.
A written year-end summary
A short, readable memo: what drove your tax bill, what changed since last year, and the two or three things worth fixing before the next one.
Electronic filing & tracking
Returns are e-filed and confirmed. We watch the acknowledgements and tell you the moment the IRS and FTB accept them.
Estimated payment schedule
Quarterly vouchers and calendar reminders so the following year never arrives as a shock.
Why it matters
Before we prepare anything, we read your last three returns. Missed deductions and mis-classified income are common, and amended returns often pay for the engagement.
K-1s flow straight into the owner returns without a hand-off, which removes the single most common source of filing errors for small businesses.
We keep the workpapers that support every position. If a notice ever arrives, the file already exists.
You approve the fee before we begin. No hourly meter, no invoice that arrives larger than the conversation.
The process
Thirty minutes, no charge. We look at last year's return, understand your situation and quote a fixed fee.
You get a personalised checklist in the client portal. Upload from your phone; nothing travels by email.
We prepare, a senior reviewer checks, and we come back to you with questions in one batch rather than five separate emails.
We walk you through the return before you sign it — line by line if you want. Then we e-file and confirm acceptance.
Questions
Still not sure? Ask us directly — the first conversation costs nothing and we will tell you honestly whether this is what you need.
Individual returns start at a flat fee that we quote in the first call, once we have seen last year's return. Business returns are quoted on the complexity of the books and the number of owners. You always approve the fee before work begins — we do not bill by the hour for preparation.
No. The entire engagement can run remotely through our secure portal and video calls, and most of our clients work with us that way. That said, the office is here, and if you would rather sit across a desk in Azusa you are always welcome.
We send a checklist built for your specific situation rather than a generic list. For most people it is income documents (W-2, 1099, K-1), deduction records, last year's return, and identification. For businesses, add the bookkeeping file and payroll reports.
Yes. Filing back returns is one of the most common reasons people come to us. We can usually reconstruct several years, and filing voluntarily — before the IRS files a substitute return for you — almost always produces a better outcome.
An Enrolled Agent is licensed directly by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and holds unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS in any state. If your return is ever questioned, the same person who prepared it can defend it.

Planning is the part of the work that actually moves the number. We model your year while there is still time to change it — and show you, in dollars, what each decision is worth.
Reconciled every month, closed on a schedule, and delivered with a short note explaining what changed. Not a shoebox reconstructed in March.
An Enrolled Agent holds unlimited rights of practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Sign a Form 2848 and every letter, every call and every deadline becomes ours to manage.
A thirty-minute call, no charge, and a fixed quote before anything begins. If we are not the right firm for this, we will tell you that too.
